Production and packaging capacity doubled: over 50 million products per year. Innovations designed to support a promise of maximum safety and high quality.
Costa di Mezzate (Bergamo), January 19, 2026 – Molino Nicoli, an Italian company internationally recognized as a leading partner in the Better for You cereals-based products segment, today inaugurated a new production line dedicated to lightweight extruded snacks for baby food at its Costa di Mezzate facility, in the province of Bergamo.
Thanks to this project, which involved the complete revamping and relocation of a pre-existing line into a new building, Molino Nicoli has doubled the production capacity of its lightweight extruded snacks division, surpassing 50 million packs per year, with a significant enhancement also in packaging operations.
Special attention was given to strengthening continuous control and commitment to safety, which have always been part of Molino Nicoli’s DNA. For this reason, the new building was designed with optimized environments and workflows to ensure standards at the highest levels of the industry, integrating dedicated solutions such as specific washing rooms, hygiene filters, electronically controlled access systems, a quality control laboratory adjacent to production, and X-ray inspection systems for the complete monitoring of every product.
“This expansion represents a strategic milestone for Molino Nicoli,” commented Piero Mirra, CEO of Molino Nicoli. “It allows us to increase capacity and flexibility, further driving the growth of our business worldwide while strengthening our ability to meet the demands of major retailers for innovative solutions. All this takes place in the baby food segment, which is characterized by stricter standards and the highest consumer expectations”.
The inauguration event was also attended by the Mayor of Costa di Mezzate, Andrea Trapletti, who added: “Companies like Molino Nicoli are ambassadors of our territory’s excellence around the world. Investments like this are essential not only for business growth, but also for the development of the entire local area and the community that lives here: creating value, expertise, and opportunities for people.
The project also makes it possible to optimize production processes and introduce automation solutions that improve efficiency, including advanced systems for ingredient distribution and dosing, as well as the creation of a new industrial fiber optic data network, developed in compliance with the latest cyber security regulations.
